Spider Infection changes how spiders behave in Minecraft: a spider that kills a mob turns it into another spider.

What it does

Spiders in Spider Infection are no longer neutral. Each spider attacks mobs it sees, and when a mob dies from that attack it rises as another spider, so the infection spreads through the world. Spider Infection is a server-side only mod, so players join a server running it without installing anything. Files are published for Forge and NeoForge across six game versions, 1.20.1 – 1.21.5, and the mod is licensed as All rights reserved, so it is not open source.

  1. Spiders attack mobs

    Spiders go after other mobs they can see, turning the hunt into a constant threat across the map.

  2. Infection on death

    A mob killed by a spider is converted into a new spider, so each kill adds to the number of attackers.

  3. Spreading webs

    Webs spread through the infected area, adding to the sense that the ecosystem has changed.
