Status Effect Bars Reforged

by Leclowndu93150

With Status Effect Bars Reforged, each active potion effect gets a small customizable bar showing how much time it has left, drawn beside the effects display and inside the inventory.

ForgeNeoForgeClient-side onlyGNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 onlyOpen source1.20.1 – 26.2

What it does

The bars appear beside the status effects display and in the inventory screen, so the remaining duration of each effect can be read at a glance. A config screen lets a player change the bar colors and where the bars are placed on screen. Some effects are hidden automatically to keep the display tidy, such as effects granted by a beacon and effects that last a very long time.

The mod is client-side only: only the client needs it, and a server can run without it. The code is under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, so the project is open source, with a public source repository and issue tracker. Files are published for Forge and NeoForge, for 1.20.1, 1.21.1, 26.1.2 and 26.2 as game versions; the latest Forge file is 1.0.3 for 1.20.1 and the latest NeoForge file is 1.1.0 for 26.2.

The author notes that the design may have been inspired by the active effects HUD in SkyUI, and the project includes a Brazilian Portuguese translation by FITFC. A version for Fabric is also credited to A5b84, outside the Forge and NeoForge files listed here.

Key features

  1. Effect duration bars

A small bar beside each active effect shows how much of its duration remains.

  2. Inventory display

Effect bars also appear in the inventory screen, not only in the status overlay.

  3. Color and position settings

A config screen edits the bar colors and the placement of the bars.

  4. Automatic hiding

Beacon-granted and very long effects can be hidden automatically to keep the overlay uncluttered.

  5. Portuguese translation

A Brazilian Portuguese translation is included, made by FITFC.

Use cases

Tracking short effects

Players who drink potions or eat food with timed effects can watch the bars drain and plan the next action without opening the inventory.

Reducing overlay clutter

Players who stack many effects can hide long or beacon effects so the remaining ones stay readable.

Who it’s for: Players who want to see the remaining time of potion and status effects on screen. Because it runs only on the client, it can be added to any server without changes on the server side.
