EffectTimerHUD

by NEKOZAME_Garo

Directly under each potion effect icon in the HUD, EffectTimerHUD draws a compact remaining-time label, letting players check durations mid-fight without opening the effects screen.

ForgeNeoForgeClient-side onlyAll rights reserved1.20.1 – 1.21.8

What it does

The label appears under the vanilla potion icon and is centered beneath the 24px icon. Durations are shown as M:SS, for example 1:30, and under one minute as seconds, for example 45s. Effects with infinite duration display a permanent marker in place of a number. Beneficial and harmful effects both get labels, and the rows follow the same ordering as vanilla, so each timer lines up with its effect.

The mod is client-side only, so a server does not need it and players join without installing anything on the server side. It is a lightweight addition meant to have negligible performance impact. A toggle key is unbound by default and can be assigned under Options, Controls, under EffectTimerHUD. The mod is released with All rights reserved and is not open source, but it is free to use.

Key features

  1. Timer under each effect

A duration label sits directly below every potion effect icon in the HUD, matching the vanilla icon layout.

  2. Readable duration format

Times over a minute appear as M:SS, and times under a minute appear as seconds with an s suffix.

  3. Infinite effect marker

Effects without an end time show a permanent indicator instead of a countdown number.

  4. Toggle key

A key binding that is unbound by default can be set in the Controls options to show or hide the labels.

Use cases

Who it’s for: Players who use potion effects often and want their remaining durations visible during play. Only the client needs the mod, so it can be added to a server's client pack without server changes.
