Starshadow Config
by Starshadow
Starshadow Config is a Fabric library that builds a polished settings screen from an annotated Java class, so mod authors skip writing screen code by hand.
What it does
A developer defines settings as fields in a simple Java class and marks the class and its fields with annotations. Annotated fields in a plain Java class are read by the library, which builds a full settings screen containing tabbed pages, grouped sections, sliders, on/off switches and enum selectors instead of bare text boxes. Reset buttons restore each setting to its default. The screen is reached through Mod Menu, so players find options in one consistent place across every mod that uses the library.
The library handles the screen builder, widget positioning and layout math, which is the part that usually takes hundreds of lines per mod. Mods that use Starshadow Config can bundle it inside their own files, so players typically do not need to install it separately, although a mod may still list it as an external dependency. Files cover 1.20.1 – 1.20.6 for Fabric, and the code is published under the Mozilla Public License 2.0, making the project open source.
Key features
Annotation-driven fields
Settings are declared as annotated fields in a plain Java class, with no separate screen definition to maintain.
Generated tabbed screen
The library builds a tabbed settings screen with sections, opened from Mod Menu, and needs no screen code from the mod.
Sliders, toggles and dropdowns
Numeric values become sliders, booleans become toggles and enum values become dropdowns, instead of raw text entry.
Reset to defaults
Each setting has a reset button that restores its default value, so players can undo changes one field at a time.

Use cases
Configuring a mod's options
A mod author can replace a hand-written config screen with fields and annotations, keeping the settings and the UI in one class.
Consistent options across mods
Several mods built on the same library present their settings with the same tabs, sliders and reset buttons.
Who it’s for: Fabric mod developers who want a settings screen for their mod without writing the widget and layout code themselves. Players see the result as the settings screen of the mods that use it.

Define your settings as a simple Java class, annotate the fields, and get a polished config screen — complete with tabs, sections, sliders, toggles, and enum dropdowns — with zero boilerplate UI code. That's it. No screen builder class…
