Sprint O' Meter

by PaperScorpio

Sprint O' Meter adds a stamina bar under the experience bar, and sprinting, jumping and swimming draw from it.

FabricQuiltClient and serverCustom license1.17 – 1.19.2

What it does

Stamina drains while a player sprints and recovers over time. Once the bar reaches zero, jumping is disabled and movement slows down, so a player has to stop and wait. The amount deducted per action can be scaled by the player's saturation, so a well-fed character spends stamina at a different rate than a hungry one.

Swimming is restricted as well. With no stamina left, a player cannot sprint underwater, and stamina regenerates more slowly while submerged. The mod also adds stamina-related potion effects. Most of its settings can be changed, and the in-game options screen is reached through Mod Menu. The mod needs Cloth Config API and Fabric API, and it is published for Fabric and Quilt, with 2.0na for 1.19.2 as the latest file, under a custom license that is not open source.

Key features

  1. Stamina bar

A stamina bar appears under the experience bar and tracks how much sprinting and jumping a player has left.

  2. Exhaustion effects

At zero stamina, jumping is disabled and movement slows until the bar recovers.

  3. Underwater limits

Sprinting underwater is blocked at zero stamina, and stamina regenerates more slowly while swimming.

  4. Adjustable settings

Cooldown, deduction speed and decrement amount can each be changed through the options screen, reached via Mod Menu.

Use cases

Survival pacing

Players who want sprinting to have a cost can use the bar to limit long runs across the terrain of a survival world.

Server rules

Server owners can tune the stamina values to set how demanding movement is for everyone on a multiplayer server.

Who it’s for: Players looking for a cursed, customizable movement mechanic, and server owners who want stamina rules on a multiplayer server. Both the server and every player need the mod, and it requires Cloth Config API and Fabric API.

How it compares

Full comparison

Zav's Stamina and Abilities is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 or later, runs on client and server, and is published for Fabric only, for 1.19.2 – 1.20.6. Realistic Stamina - Extended is open source under the MIT License and is published for Fabric only, for 1.20.1. On that mod, only the client needs it, and the server can run without it. Sprint O' Meter stays under its custom license and covers Fabric and Quilt for 1.17 – 1.19.2.
