Spooky Foods
by Leonxkingx
Players who want snacks with creepy side effects can craft Spooky Foods, which adds haunted treats that each grant a buff and a spooky drawback.
What it does
Spooky Foods adds food items themed on monsters and locations from the base game, including a lollipop that brings fire resistance, an explosive cake, a honeycomb that boosts jumping, an egg that grants night vision and a steak built from sculk. Each one pairs a status effect with a side effect, so a meal can help a player or put them at risk. Ingredients come from the Overworld, the Nether, the End and the Deep Dark.
Most recipes in the mod are shapeless, so the ingredients can be placed in any arrangement in the crafting grid. The mod is published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, and the environment is client and server, so the server and every player need it. Files cover game versions 1.20.1 – 26.1.2 across five release versions, and the code is under All rights reserved, so the mod is not open source.
Key features
Haunted treats
Foods with names drawn from the game's monsters can be crafted from materials gathered in several dimensions.
Buffs with drawbacks
Each food grants an effect, and some add a spooky side effect such as spawned mobs or a slowness debuff.
Shapeless recipes
Most recipes accept ingredients placed in any arrangement, so players do not have to match a pattern.
Explosive cake
The Creeper Cake explodes after it is eaten, damaging nearby entities and blocks but not the player who ate it.
