Spice of Life Onion

by creativemd

Spice of Life Onion is a Forge and NeoForge food mod that tracks how varied a player's recent diet is and rewards eating a wider mix of foods.

ForgeNeoForgeClient and serverGNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 onlyOpen source1.20.1 – 26.3

What it does

Players build a diversity score from the foods they have eaten recently. Each food that adds to the score opens benefits, and the Food Book screen lists the current score, the foods still counting toward it, and the benefits that are active or still within reach. A hotkey opens the same screen without carrying the book, and that hotkey is unbound by default.

Lunchbags and lunchboxes return from the original Spice of Life. They hold food and pick the item that gives the largest diversity gain or the smallest loss. Commands handle the rest: /solonion diversity shows the score, /solonion clear resets the stored food list and benefits, and /solonion sync resends the food list to the client when the two fall out of step. The mod also works alongside other installed mods that change attributes or player health.

The mod requires CreativeCore on both loaders. A server running it needs every connecting player to have it too. Files cover 1.20.1 – 26.3 across 15 release versions, and the code is under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, which makes the mod open source.

Key features

  1. Food Book screen

Shows the diversity score, the contributing foods and the benefits that are active or still within reach.

  2. Hotkey access

A keybinding opens the Food Book without holding the physical item, and it is unbound until a player sets it.

  3. Lunchbag and lunchbox

Containers that hold food and automatically choose the item with the strongest diversity effect.

  4. Diversity commands

/solonion diversity, /solonion clear and /solonion sync report the score, reset the food list and resync it.

  5. Modded attribute support

Benefits interact with attributes added by other installed mods, so modded stats are taken into account.
