Spice of Life - Carrot Edition - Unofficial 1.7.10

by mitchej123

Spice of Life - Carrot Edition is a Forge food mod for Minecraft 1.7.10 that gives a bonus heart for variety in what a player eats.

ForgeClient and serverGNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 onlyOpen source1.7.10

What it does

Eating a food the player has not eaten recently grants the full effect, while repeating the same food yields less. Each food is tracked, so players who cycle through many items keep gaining the most from new ones. A bonus heart is granted once a player has eaten 50 haunches of food, and a tooltip on each food shows whether it has been eaten yet or is still counting toward the diminishing returns.

Spice of Life - Carrot Edition is an unofficial Forge fork for 1.7.10 that brings the Carrot Edition features back to that older line. It is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, and runs on client and server, so the server and every player need it. AppleCore Unofficial 1.7.10 is required and must be installed alongside it. Forge files are published for 1.7.10 only, with 2.2.11-carrot for 1.7.10 as the latest file.

Key features

  1. Diminishing returns on repeats

Foods eaten recently give less benefit when eaten again, which encourages players to rotate their diet.

  2. Bonus heart after 50 haunches

Players who have eaten 50 haunches of food receive an extra heart of health.

  3. Food tooltip indicator

Each food tooltip shows whether it has been eaten yet and whether it is still contributing to diminishing returns.

  4. Dietary exploration

Trying new foods is rewarded, since uneaten items give the full benefit and repeated ones give less.
