AppleCore Unofficial 1.7.10
by mitchej123
In Minecraft 1.7.10, AppleCore is a library that changes how food and hunger work, and other food mods rely on it.
What it does
AppleCore gives mod authors a way to define edible items in their own mods without writing the hunger handling from scratch. Food values, saturation and effects can be declared through its interfaces, so a food added by one mod behaves consistently with the rest.
The mod also adds events that fire when food is eaten and when crops are harvested or grown, letting other mods react to those actions. Its ASM code has been migrated to Mixins, which is why it depends on UniMixins. It is published for Forge only, for Minecraft 1.7.10, and runs on client and server, so both the server and every player need it. The code is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only.
This fork is kept up to date by the people behind the GregTech New Horizons modpack, starting from squeek502's original 1.7.10 release. Its latest Forge file is 3.3.13, dated 2026-09-17, and the mod was first published on 2022-12-28.
Key features
Edible item creation
Other mods can register new edible items through the API, with hunger and saturation values set in code.
Food and crop events
Events fire when food is consumed and when crops are harvested, so other mods can modify those actions.
Mixin-based core
The original ASM patches were moved to Mixins, giving a more maintainable base for the hunger changes.
Hunger mechanic hooks
The API exposes the hunger and food logic so dependent mods can change how food restores player hunger.

Use cases
Food mod authors
Developers of food mods can add edible items without implementing hunger handling themselves.
Modpack builders
Pack makers who combine many food mods can rely on one shared hunger system instead of several competing ones.
Who it’s for: The mod suits developers who make food or crop content for 1.7.10 and modpack builders who combine food mods in one pack. Players of a modpack that includes a dependent mod need AppleCore installed with it.
How it compares
Scaling Feast is a Forge mod for 1.12.2 under the MIT License, and it is open source, though it targets a different version. Better Hunger is a Forge mod for 1.15.2 – 1.16.5 under the GNU Lesser General Public License v2.1 only, so it does not cover 1.7.10. Ar's Food is a Forge mod for 1.20.1 and is not open source.
