Sparse Structures
by m
Sparse Structures makes structures across a world spread further apart, and it can change the spacing of structures added by mods and datapacks.
What it does
Spacing is set per structure in a config file, so a server owner can make each structure rarer or leave it alone. Changes cover structures from vanilla, from other mods and from datapacks. A spread factor of 0 turns a structure off, and very low values slow world generation noticeably. Biome constraints for each structure can be customized, and structure tags are supported in the config.
The mod is aimed at large modpacks with many structure mods, where the number of villages, towers and dungeons can crowd out exploration. Structures become easier to find by walking, not by using /locate. Config changes take effect only after the game restarts, and settings can differ per world.
Sparse Structures is server-side only, so players join without installing it. It is released under the MIT License and is open source. Files exist for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across 23 release versions, 1.19 – 26.3. Two other catalog mods, Dungeons Arise Sparse Structures compat and its companion, require it.
Key features
Per-structure spacing
The spread of each individual structure can be changed, including structures from other mods and datapacks.
World-specific configs
Each world can carry its own spacing settings, so one save can differ from another on the same server.
Dump structure sets
The /dumpstructuresets command exports every structure set as a text file that matches the config syntax.
Locate distance fix
Corrects the distance that /locate reports between the player and the nearest structure.
Structure tags
Tags can be used in the config to select groups of structures at once instead of listing each one.

Use cases
Large modpacks
Packs that combine many structure mods can use spacing changes to keep the world from filling up with structures.
Who it’s for: Server owners and modpack authors who run many structure mods and want to control how often structures appear.
How it compares
Structurify - Structure Control works on the client and server together, is not open source, and is published under a custom license for 1.20 – 26.3. No More Structures: Full is server-side only, open source under the CC0 1.0 Universal license, and limited to Fabric for 1.18.2 – 1.21. MVS - Moog's Voyager Structures is a config pack for Fabric, open source under the MIT License, and covers 1.18.2 – 26.3 with the server required and the client optional.
