Smarter Eat is a Fabric client mod that changes how food is queued and eaten, so players stop ghost eating.

What it does

Smarter Eat stops a common problem where a player starts eating and the food is not consumed. Holding the use button is replaced by a single tap that starts an auto-eat. Pressing it several times queues more items to eat one after another. Left-clicking during eating cancels the meal and swings the held weapon instead. The mod works on servers without extra packets and is released under the MIT License as open source.

Key features

  1. No more ghost eating

    Eating is started in a way that avoids food being lost when the player never actually consumes it.

  2. Queued meals

    Repeated taps add more foods to the queue, so several items can be eaten in a row with one click each.

  3. Left-click cancel

    A left-click during eating stops the meal and swings the weapon in hand, rather than waiting for the food to finish.
