Smart Moving Reforged adds climbing, crawling, sliding and head-first jumps to the player character, ported to Fabric for 1.21.1 from the original Smart Moving by Divisor.
What it does
Smart Moving Reforged extends character movement with climbing, crawling, sliding and a head jump. Players can latch onto ladders, vines, fences and iron bars, then climb or free-climb surfaces, cross ceilings, slip through one-block gaps by lying flat, slide ahead in narrow passages and launch into a head-first jump. Climbing, falling and flying movements come with hand-crafted animations, and other players see these movement animations synchronized in multiplayer.
The mod is a Fabric port maintained by View-Studio, and it aims to recreate the experience of the classic Smart Moving in modern Fabric. The original concept, mechanics and animations were created by Divisor for earlier Minecraft releases, and that work is credited here. It requires Fabric API and runs on the client and server, so both sides need it. Files exist for 1.21.1 only. The code is under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later, so the mod is open source and its source code and issue tracker are public.
Key features
Grabbing and climbing
The player grabs ladders, vines, fences and iron bars, and can free-climb up surfaces or traverse ceilings.
Crawling and squeezing
The player lies down to crawl and squeeze through one-block-high gaps.
Sliding
A slide carries the player forward quickly through tight spaces.
Head jump
A dynamic head-first jump launches the player in a single movement.
Synchronized animations
Hand-crafted movement animations are shown to other players in multiplayer.
