Tick Counter | Smart Counter

by DevJG

Tick Counter, a Fabric utility, lets a player count redstone ticks and game ticks by typing chat commands and clicking on blocks.

FabricClient-side onlyMozilla Public License 2.0Open source1.21.9 – 26.3

What it does

Typing tickcounter in chat turns the tick counter on, and typing it again resets the count to 0 and switches the counter off, which also restores block interactions. While the counter is on, a left-click resets it to 0, and right-click and left-click on blocks are disabled so that a repeater's delay mode is not changed by accident. Measuring how long a signal takes to pass through a contraption is simpler with the mod, which tallies redstone ticks, game ticks and real-life seconds across a circuit's delays.

A second command, nodecounter, works the same way for redstone nodes. Once it is enabled, each change in the power level of an active node is recorded, and the chat reports the tick difference between two nodes changing power. A left-click removes the active nodes, and typing nodecounter again disables the counter and re-enables block interactions.

The mod is open source under the Mozilla Public License 2.0, its source code is public, and it requires Fabric API. Files are published for Fabric only, for 1.21.9, 1.21.10, 1.21.11, 26.1, 26.2 and 26.3, with 2.2.0 for 26.3 as the latest file. It runs on the client alone, so the server does not need it.

Key features

  1. Redstone tick counting

Delays in a redstone circuit are tallied in redstone ticks, game ticks and real-life seconds.

  2. Command-controlled counter

The tickcounter command starts and stops the counter, and a left-click resets it to 0 while it is running.

  3. Block interaction lock

Block clicks are disabled while the counter runs, so repeater delay settings are not changed accidentally.

  4. Node change tracking

The nodecounter command reports the tick difference between two active nodes changing power in chat.
