Sleepless
Sleepless is a gameplay-changing horror datapack that turns the nightly rest into a risk, so a bed-sleeper who waits too long meets an enemy at dawn.
What it does
Sleepless was originally made by TheLibrarianYT as a datapack that makes the Minecraft experience a little more challenging. It is inspired by that work and is the first project released by Stasis Entertainment. The rules are simple: a player who sleeps in a room can only sleep there once, and a new room has to be built before dawn for the next night. During the first three days, players may stay up, build a house and get a bed built well before night falls. The first few rooms are safe to sleep in, but after three days staying up through the night is no longer allowed.
Once the sun peeks over the horizon, an entity starts hunting anyone who has not slept in a safe bed. Players should not expect a safe bed in the morning, because the mod's horror is the point of the design. Sleepless is a datapack, so it needs no mod loader to run on a server, although the separate required resource pack must also be installed for the effects to show. It is open source and is released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only.
Key features
One sleep per room
A room counts as used once a player has slept in it, so the next night needs a new room built before dawn.
Three-day grace period
The first three days allow staying awake to build a house and a bed, after which staying up through the night is no longer allowed.
Dawn hunt
When the sun peeks over the horizon, an entity hunts players who did not sleep in a safe bed.
Datapack delivery
The gameplay runs as a datapack, with a separate resource pack required for the horror effects.
