Simple Damage Tint

by rawnet

Simple Damage Tint flashes a colored overlay on screen whenever the player takes damage, with the color set by the player.

FabricClient-side onlyMIT License1.21 – 26.2

What it does

Minecraft already flashes red when an entity takes damage. Simple Damage Tint replaces that flash with a color the player picks, and it also tints the flash when the player is wearing armor, a case vanilla leaves untinted. Sliders for red, green, blue and alpha, or a typed hex code such as 4dff0000, set the tint, and the alpha value controls how strong the flash looks. A preview swatch over a checkerboard makes transparency simple to judge. Armor trims can be turned on or off, and both settings take effect as soon as they are changed, so the result can be checked while the config screen stays open.

Saved settings keep working even when the mod is removed. The mod is client-side only, so only the client needs it, and it changes nothing else in how the game plays. Installation requires Fabric API on Fabric Minecraft 1.21 – 1.21.11 and 26.1 – 26.2, and each build matches one of those versions. The code is under the MIT License and is not open source.

Key features

  1. Custom damage color

The red flash on damage is replaced with any color the player sets, including the armor flash that vanilla skips.

  2. Four-slider color editor

Red, green, blue and alpha sliders, or a hex code like 4dff0000, set the tint, with a checkerboard preview swatch.

  3. Armor tinting option

An option off by default extends the tint to hits taken while wearing armor, with a separate setting for armor trims.

  4. Live preview in the config

Changes apply immediately, so the effect can be watched while the config screen stays open.

What the author says

Minecraft flashes red over anything that takes damage. This mod lets you pick that color yourself, and it can put the flash on armor too, which vanilla skips. Nothing else changes. It adds no HUD and does not touch how the game plays.
