Simple Custom Early Loading

by lukaskabc

Simple Custom Early Loading lets players change the NeoForge early loading screen, including its position, custom images and the on-screen elements the screen shows.

ForgeNeoForgeClient-side onlyGNU Lesser General Public License v2.1 or laterOpen source1.20.1 – 1.21.4

What it does

Players can customize the early loading screen that NeoForge shows at startup. Options cover where a custom image is placed, the position of the progress bar, and whether the performance bar, the NeoForge fox, the bottom-left log and the NeoForge version label appear. Custom images can be placed in a folder for jar mods, and the window can resize dynamically when it is resized.

The mod is client-side only, so only the player needs it and servers run without it. It is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v2.1 or later. Files exist for Forge and NeoForge across nine release versions, 1.20.1 – 1.21.4, with the latest Forge file 2.2-forge for 1.20.1 and the latest NeoForge file 2.2-neoforge for 1.21.4, both dated 2026-03-19. Source code and an issue tracker are published.

Key features

  1. Custom loading images

Custom images can be placed on the early loading screen, in any of the supported image formats.

  2. Progress bar position

The position of the progress bar on the early loading screen can be changed through a toggle.

  3. Optional on-screen elements

The performance bar, the NeoForge fox, the bottom-left log and the NeoForge version label can each be switched on or off.

  4. Red loading screen option

A darkMojangStudiosBackground setting in options.txt changes the early loading background color.

What the author says

This mod allows the customization of Neoforge's early loading screen. There is also a quite "hacky" version for Forge 1.20.1, 1.20.2, 1.20.4, 1.20.6. I do not plan to continue supporting any other Forge versions due to technical reasons. For newer versions, please use the NeoForge.
