Silk API
Silk API is a Fabric and Quilt library that extends the Fabric API with classes, methods and interfaces for building mods with fancy functionality.
What it does
The library gathers extensions built on top of Fabric API into one core. Developers call its classes, methods and interfaces to add new items, blocks, mobs and other features with less code, and the project aims to serve as a template for mod development. Silk API is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, and its source code, issue tracker and wiki are public.
Silk API requires Fabric API on both loaders, so Fabric API must be installed alongside it. Every player and the server need a copy of the mod. Builds cover 9 release versions, with the latest file 1.0.4+1.21.1 for 1.21.1 dated 2024-11-19. Snapshot builds are also published. Three other mods require Silk API: Spontaneous-Replace, Spontaneous-Replace: Cobwebbed and Spontaneous-Replace: Terriforest.

Use cases
Mod development template
Developers use the library as a base for new mods, calling its interfaces instead of writing the same plumbing again.
Who it’s for: Mod developers who build on Fabric or Quilt and want extra helpers beyond Fabric API. Players do not use the library directly; it matters to them only as a dependency of other mods.
How it compares
