Ships
by EMD123
Ships adds illager-crewed ship dungeons to the world, and lets illagers pilot boats across open water.
What it does
Ships is a structure datapack. It places illager ships as a new kind of dungeon, built to resemble shipwrecks and holding pillagers, vindicators and loot similar to shipwreck chests. A ship can generate from several wood types, and its maps point toward pillager outposts. Patrol boats spawn around the ships to make boarding harder, and larger fleets surround even more patrols.
Illagers also gain the ability to board boats. An illager that ends up in water climbs into a boat and patrols the nearby ocean. When it spots an enemy, it stops patrolling and gives chase. The mod is open source under the Apache License 2.0 and is published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt. The server must run it, while players may leave it out. Files exist for 1.17 – 1.21.4, with 3.0.4 for 1.21.4 as the latest build.

Use cases
Adventure maps
Ship dungeons give explorers a new target on the ocean, with loot and fights along the way.
Mob-focused worlds
Players who want more active illagers on the water get boat-riding patrols as an addition to the vanilla raids.
Who it’s for: Players who explore oceans and want illager structures beyond shipwrecks, and server owners who want more naval encounters without adding a client mod.
