Shipping
by PlayTics
Shipping lets players send letters and packages between mailboxes, with two mailbox types that share one way of working.
What it does
Mailboxes store items in a shipping system: each mailbox holds up to 16 items in one slot, letters take 2 inventory slots and packages take 4. Players register a mailbox with a right-click, and the two mailbox types, one standing on the floor and one hanging on a wall, work in the same way. Wood types have matching variants of each mailbox.
The mod adds new blocks and items themed around shipping and mail, including mailboxes, letters and cardboard boxes. The author recommends JEI to view the different recipes at a glance. The mod is described as suited to multiplayer servers.
Shipping requires Forge for Minecraft versions 1.16.5 – 1.20.1 and runs on client and server, so the server and every player need it. Files exist for 1.16.5, 1.17.1, 1.18.2, 1.19.2 and 1.20.1, with 1.3.0 for 1.20.1 as the latest file, published 2023-11-06. The mod is released under All rights reserved and is not open source.

Use cases
Multiplayer delivery
Players on a shared server can send items to each other through mailboxes instead of trading in person.
Decorative postal scenes
Builders can place mailboxes on floors and walls to furnish houses, streets or post offices.
Who it’s for: Players who want storage blocks for item delivery in survival or multiplayer worlds, and builders who want postal-themed decoration.
How it compares
CityDecor is a Forge-only option for 1.16.5 – 1.19.2, open source under the MIT License, and it runs on client and server like Shipping. Ancar's Mailboxes is open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later, covers 1.15.2 – 26.1.2 on Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, and needs only the server, with the client optional. Mailbox is a Creative Commons Attribution Non Commercial No Derivatives 4.0 mod, not open source, for 1.20.5 – 26.1.2 on the same four loaders, server required and client optional.
