Mailbox lets players send letters and small items to friends by placing a mailbox block in the world, with a stamp book and envelopes for the mail itself.

What it does

Players write letters on letter paper, which is used like a default writable book, and seal them with a stamp book before sending. A player places a mailbox wherever they want in the world, and mail is delivered to the recipient's mailbox. Bats hanging from a mailbox carry sealed mail across the server, so friends on different parts of a world can exchange messages. Mailboxes can be customized by changing the material of their stand, roof, fence or wall block, slab or stone, and shears return a mailbox to its default appearance.

Installation requires the mod on the server, while players may add it on their client. A datapack adds five new items so friends can exchange information even when connected to the same world. Mail can also be sent anonymously by stamping a filled envelope with the default stamp, but anonymous mail cannot be given to bats or placed directly inside mailboxes. Mailbox is published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, and the 26.1.2 builds cover 1.20.5 – 26.1.2, with snapshot builds also published. The code is published under the Creative Commons Attribution Non Commercial No Derivatives 4.0 license, which is not open source.
