ServerCore
by Wesley1808
ServerCore is a server-only optimization mod that trims several systems responsible for lag spikes on busy servers.
What it does
Server-only, open source under the MIT License, the optimization mod works for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge on dedicated servers and in singleplayer worlds. Most of its work targets random lag spikes, with additional patches that touch how chunks tick, how mobs spawn, how item frames behave and how players log in. Its settings let a server owner cut the number of entities the server must process, following the approach used by Spigot and a well-known Paper server fork, with extra optional controls.
Several features adjust values automatically. Based on tick time and the config, the server can change chunk-tick distance, view distance, simulation distance and mobcaps. Villagers stuck in one-by-one spaces, such as large trading halls, can be set to tick less often. Spawn rates and vanilla mobcaps can be tuned per spawn group, and breeding can be capped within a radius to stop large farms of animals. By default most changes that could alter vanilla behavior stay off, so the mod can be added without changing how the game plays. Builds are published for 33 release versions, including snapshot builds.
Key features
Lag spike reduction
Patches target the random lag spikes that appear on busy servers, with little visible change during play.
Entity processing limits
A configurable system reduces how many entities the server must process, based on Spigot and a Paper server fork.
Automatic tick-time adjustments
Chunk-tick distance, view distance, simulation distance and mobcaps can change automatically with tick time.
Mob spawn and mobcap settings
Spawn rates and mobcaps can be set for each spawn group, with options for reinforcements, spawners and nether portals.
Safe defaults
Most changes that could affect vanilla behavior are disabled by default.

Use cases
Busy multiplayer servers
Server owners can reduce lag spikes and limit entity processing on servers with many players and large farms.
Large villager trading halls
The villager tick setting reduces the load from villagers trapped in one-by-one spaces.
Who it’s for: Server owners who want to tune performance on Fabric, Forge or NeoForge. Players on a server without the mod are not affected.
How it compares
Entity View Distance is a Fabric and Quilt mod, open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, and it runs on the client or the server, optional. Does It Tick? is server-side only for 1.20 – 1.21.1 and is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only. ServerCore is server-side only, so players need nothing installed.

What the author says
A mod that aims to optimize the minecraft server.\ Works on both dedicated servers and singleplayer! A lot of the optimizations in this mod are focused on getting rid of the majority of random lagspikes on servers.\ Other than that, it also includes plenty of optimizations for things like chunk ticking, mob spawning…
