Server Tab Info

by black_dog20

With Server Tab Info, players can see the mean tick time and ticks per second of the game in a tab-style overlay, opened with Tab and Ctrl.

ForgeNeoForgeClient or server, optionalAll rights reserved1.18.2 – 1.20.4

What it does

The mod shows the mean tick time and ticks per second (TPS) of the running game, with a breakdown per dimension. Its presentation follows the player tab list, so the information opens in the same place as the usual player overview. The idea is borrowed from an older feature in a modpack, where an optional server-side mod answered a query and listed TPS and entity counts the same way.

The mod works in singleplayer as well as on servers. Either side can run it, and neither needs it, so players or servers without the mod see no missing-mod errors. When a player joins a server, the overview only appears if the server also runs the mod, and the server build does not have to match the client build. An older server build may leave some features out. Forge and NeoForge builds are published for 1.18.2 – 1.20.4, and the Permission Levels mod is an optional dependency that can be added alongside it.

Key features

  1. Tick time overview

Shows the mean tick time and ticks per second of the game in a tab-style panel.

  2. Per-dimension TPS list

Lists the tick rate for each dimension, so slow dimensions can be spotted.

  3. Opened with a key combination

The panel opens with Tab and Ctrl, like the player list it is modeled on.

  4. Singleplayer support

The overview also works in singleplayer worlds, not only on servers.

Monitoring a singleplayer world

Players in a local world can see tick time without joining a server.

Who it’s for: The mod suits players who want to watch server performance from the tab list, and server owners who want to see tick rate per dimension without a command.

What the author says

Should really be called Tab Info, because it now also works when in singleplayer! This is a mod that can be installed on both the client and the server without causing missing mods errors for clients without the mod or servers without the mod. When connected to a server the mod only works when the server also has the…
