Server Scanner

by Jqve

With Server Scanner installed, a player can search a network range or a single IP address for open Minecraft servers and remove unwanted entries from the server list.

What it does

Server Scanner tool scans for Minecraft servers on a network and checks specific IP addresses for open ports. Results can then be used to populate the multiplayer list, so the player does not have to add each address by hand. The scanning is a client-side function and does not change how any server runs.

The mod also cleans the server list. Entries can be deleted one by one, or in bulk by matching a regular expression against each entry. The mod is published for Fabric only, with files for 1.21.1, 1.21.3 and 1.21.4. The latest Fabric file is 1.1+1.21.4 for 1.21.4, dated 2025-01-28, and the code is open source under the CC0 1.0 Universal license. Source code and an issue tracker are public.

Key features

  1. Network server scanning

Scans a network range and lists the Minecraft servers it finds that have open ports.

  2. Port scanning by IP

Checks specific IP addresses for open ports, for players who already know where to look.

  3. Regex-based deletion

Deletes every server list entry that matches a given regular expression pattern, which removes many entries in one step.

Use cases

Finding local servers

A player on a home or school network can search the local range for Minecraft servers hosted nearby.

Cleaning a long server list

After many test servers have been added, a regex pattern can clear out the ones that are no longer needed.

Who it’s for: Players who manage a long multiplayer server list or want to find servers on a local network. The mod is a client mod, so it is only needed on the player's own installation.

How it compares

Full comparison

Multi Server Delete is a Fabric client mod for 1.21.4 under the MIT License, and it is not open source. Name Scanner is also a client-side Fabric mod, but it targets 1.21.11 and is under the MIT License, without open source status. DWL is a server-side only Fabric mod for 1.21.6 – 26.1.2, released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only, so it is a different kind of tool that does not run on the player's client.

Questions

Which loader does Server Scanner need?

Server Scanner is published for Fabric only. Files exist for 1.21.1, 1.21.3 and 1.21.4, so no Forge or NeoForge build is listed.

Does Server Scanner have to be installed on a server?

No. Servers do not need it; each player installs it for their own game.

Can Server Scanner delete many server list entries at once?

Yes. The regex-based deletion removes every entry that matches a given pattern, so a single pattern can clear several servers from the list.
