Sculk Spread is a Forge minigame mod in which a placed block grows across nearby surfaces the way sculk spreads in the vanilla game.
What it does
Sculk Spread recreates on a one-to-one basis the sculk spreading seen in videos by the YouTubers Element X and Skippy-T, which the author credits as the inspiration. The spread begins slowly and speeds up as more blocks are placed, so the growth looks different from vanilla sculk.
Each generated block acts as its own source, which means breaking one block does not stop the spread. Breaking a collected block is what removes it from the network. The author lists a known bug where holding Shift while breaking causes the spreading to continue; a fix is planned for a future update.
The mod runs on Forge for Minecraft 1.20.1 – 1.20.6 and is server-side only, so players join without installing anything and only the server needs it. Its MIT License allows free use, but the code is not open source. Files exist for six game versions, and the latest is 2.0 for 1.20.6, published on 2026-08-22.
