Scribble
by chrrs
With Scribble installed, the vanilla book editor gains two-page spreads, page insertion and removal, colour formatting and save or load of finished books.
What it does
The mod changes only what the book editing screen shows and offers, and it keeps the vanilla behaviour as the default. Players can see two pages at once, insert or remove pages at any point through buttons below each page, and centre the book screen instead of leaving it at the top of the window. Existing colour codes in a book are kept as they are, so edits do not strip formatting that was already there.
Scribble also protects unsaved work: when a player tries to close a book with changes that are not yet saved, the mod asks for confirmation. Undo and redo are available for editing actions. Books can be saved to and loaded from files, which allows a backup copy to be kept outside the world. Every feature can be switched off in the configuration.
The mod runs on the client only, and the MIT License covers the code, which is open source. Cloth Config API is an optional dependency that adds a settings screen for the options. Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt builds are published for 1.20 – 26.3, and the latest file for each loader targets 26.3 except Forge, which has 1.5.1 for 1.20.1.
Key features
Two-page view
The editing screen shows two pages side by side, matching what Bedrock players already see.
Page insertion and removal
Extra buttons below each page add or delete pages at any position in the book.
Centred book screen
The book interface sits in the middle of the window rather than at its top edge.
Existing colour codes kept
Books that already contain colour codes keep them, so edits continue the existing formatting.
Unsaved-changes prompt
Closing a book with unsaved work triggers a confirmation before any progress is lost.
Undo and redo
Editing actions can be reversed or repeated with the usual keyboard shortcuts.

Use cases
Long written books
Players who write multi-page books can rearrange and extend them without retyping whole sections.
Keeping backups
Finished books can be saved to files and loaded again later, so a copy survives outside the world.
Who it’s for: Players who write or edit many books and want more page control than vanilla gives. Server owners need nothing extra, because books remain visible to everyone on the server whether or not they have the mod.
How it compares
Scriboodle is a Fabric-only mod for 26.1.2 that runs on client and server and is not open source. Scribble runs on four loaders for 1.20 – 26.3 and is also open source under the MIT License.
