Salvaged

by davka

Salvaged, a NeoForge mod for 1.21.1, lets players break down unwanted gear into raw materials using a salvaging hammer, with settings that control what can be salvaged and the odds of success.

What it does

Players hold a salvaging hammer in the off-hand and use the main hand to activate it with a right click, which turns an item into raw materials such as iron, gold or diamond, returned in the same form the item was made from. Salvaging is a manual action, so automated farms cannot use it, while furnace recipes remain the standard option for automatic recycling. The mod is aimed at heavily modded playthroughs, where a single dungeon can leave a large amount of random gear, and a golden chestplate with Unbreaking and a curse can be turned back into gold ingots and nuggets.

The mod can be adjusted through its config file. Server owners can set the chance of a successful salvage, decide which materials come out, and use a blacklist to block salvaging for specific items. Cosmetic options also exist: the hammer can be renamed to a salvaging toolbox and its off-hand display changed, while the mechanics stay identical. Salvaged is licensed under All rights reserved and is not open source. It is published for NeoForge only, for 1.21.1, and runs on client and server, so both the server and every player need it.

Key features

  1. Salvaging hammer

A single tool recycles items into their base materials when used with the right click.

  2. Configurable returns

Settings define which raw materials come back and the chance that a salvage succeeds.

  3. Blacklist

Listed items can never be salvaged, which protects valuable gear from being broken down.

  4. Cosmetic variant

The hammer can appear as a salvaging toolbox, with an off-hand model that differs but works the same.

What the author says

That one huge modded dungeon left you with a ton of random gear? Not an issue! Grab your trusty salvaging hammer and crack all of that armor into tiny pieces! It allows you to recycle items made of materials like iron, gold and diamond (configurable) back into those same materials.
