alloys

by strixun

Alloys, a datapack from strixun, layers ten extra metal tiers onto Minecraft 26.2 and later, each with its own ore drops, ingots and full toolsets.

What it does

The content is delivered as a datapack, with an optional Paper plugin for server owners. Ore drops from vanilla ores are kept as they are, and the mod adds extra rolls on top, so the vanilla loot always drops first. Each breakable ore can also yield one of four mined fragments.

Nine matching fragments craft into one alloy ingot, and the recipes for the ten alloys are additive, so vanilla recipes stay in place. Alloy gear draws on alloys:ingots tags. Gameplay works without the companion resource pack, which supplies distinct textures for the ingots and fragments, but missing textures appear until it is installed. It is required on the server and optional for players. Files are published for 26.2 and 26.3 on Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, under All rights reserved.

Key features

  1. Ten fantasy metals

The mod adds ten metals, from Tin through to Astral, each with its own ingot and fragments.

  2. Full toolsets per metal

Every metal comes with the full range of tools, plus helmet, chestplate, leggings and boots.

  3. Passive traits

Held or worn items grant attribute bonuses, intrinsic enchantments and tick-based effects, and each item shows its stats in lore.

  4. Fragments and ingots

Non-smeltable glowing fragments are collected from ores, and nine matching fragments craft one ingot.

  5. Guidebook and help

A written guidebook is delivered once per player, and the function alloys:help opens a clickable help menu.

Use cases

Who it’s for: Players who want more metal tiers in survival, and server owners who run Paper or another supported server platform and want an additive progression layer.

Questions

Does Alloys need a resource pack?

No. Gameplay works without it, but the separate resource pack with unique textures for the ten alloys ingots and fragments is required for distinct looks.

Which server platforms can run Alloys?

The datapack works on Paper, Spigot, Bukkit and vanilla data packs, and the Paper plugin adds a recipe chest GUI and alloys commands.

Do the Alloys recipes replace vanilla recipes?

No. The recipes are additive only, so vanilla recipes and ore drops are preserved.
