Risus - Blood & Ruin
by bigdious
Risus - Blood & Ruin is a NeoForge content mod for 1.21.1 that adds fleshy, cult-themed items, mobs, structures and blocks to the base game.
What it does
The mod adds several new structures in variations, multiple monsters with different abilities and fighting styles, and a large set of blocks that cover both decorative and functional uses. Tissue, bone, skin, hair and blood mechanics are part of the fleshy theme, and blood reacts with other liquids in ways that can be dangerous. Risus also adds a new fluid type with an ability, which can be fluidlogged in the mod's blocks alongside lava and water.
Risus depends on Patchouli, which must be installed for the mod to load. The mod is designed around an optional guide book, and most of its lore is shown in written entries, so the book is not required to play. Supported optional mods include JEI and the Curios API. Display Notches is neither needed nor advised alongside Risus, because running both leads to two instances of the same feature.
The mod runs on NeoForge for 1.21.1 only. Both the server and every player need it. Files are published with source code available, and the project is not open source, since all rights are reserved.

How it compares
Dave's Flesh O' Mass is built for NeoForge 1.21.4, while Risus targets 1.21.1 only, and both are closed source under All rights reserved. The CCM covers NeoForge 1.21.1 – 1.21.5 with the same client and server environment and an all-rights-reserved license. Cult of Azazel is open source under the MIT License and runs on Forge and NeoForge for 1.20.1 – 1.21.1, so it is the only listed alternative with open source code.

What the author says
'This isn't a story where you are stopping the spread of a world ending plague. No, the Joyplague has already won long ago... yet, the world still exists, mostly as before, despite the plague's omnipresence. Follow in the footsteps of a Lost Researcher to understand the plague's divine will and decide whether you…
