Resource Boxes

by CardeJIbka

Resource Boxes adds loot boxes that drop from dungeons and structures, with a chance of holding Resource Shards, Resource Gems and other items from new ores.

FabricForgeServer-side onlyMIT LicenseOpen source1.20.1 – 1.21.10

What it does

Boxes come in several types, and each type rolls from its own table of items, with a chance and a maximum count set for each entry. Opening a box can yield random loot, and equipment has a small chance of carrying random enchantments, including Mending. Loot structures and loot tables from the vanilla game are integrated, so the boxes appear in places players already explore.

The mod also places new ore into the world. Resource Ore and its deepslate variant spawn in the Overworld, the first at Y=-64 to 32 and the deepslate version below Y=0, and a new underground ores stage is added to Overworld biomes. Mining the ore with an iron pickaxe or better is required. With Silk Touch the ore block itself drops, while without it the ore yields Resource Shards, with a base amount that Fortune increases.

Installation runs on the server alone, so players join without installing anything. Files are published for Fabric and Forge; the catalog lists 1.20.1 and 1.21.1 among the game versions with files, and the latest Fabric and Forge builds are 1.1.1-hotfix and 1.0.0. The code is MIT licensed and open source.

Use cases

Dungeon looting

Who it’s for: Server owners who want extra loot and a new ore progression in survival worlds. Players only need to join the server, since the mod is server-side only.
