Renewable Diamonds

by 0xDED

Renewable Diamonds lets players craft diamond pieces in a blast furnace, so diamond tools and armor can be produced again rather than found only once.

FabricForgeQuiltServer required, client optionalMIT License1.21

What it does

Diamond gear can be made from other diamond pieces by smelting them in a blast furnace. Armor, tools and diamond horse armor are all covered, so a world that runs short of ore does not run short of diamond equipment. Villagers who trade diamond tools are also part of the supply, which the author describes as the reason the resource is renewable.

Renewable Diamonds requires a server, and only the server needs it. Clients may install it too, but players can join a server that runs it without any local copy. Files are published for Fabric, Forge and Quilt, all for 1.21, with the 1.0.0 build dated 2024-07-15 as the latest file. The mod is released under the MIT License and is not open source.

Key features

  1. Blast furnace recipes

Diamond pieces are smelted into new diamond items in a blast furnace, which keeps the recipe in one familiar block.

  2. Diamond armor

Full sets of diamond armor can be produced through the same furnace process rather than gathered from the world.

  3. Diamond tools

Pickaxes, swords and other diamond tools are included, so tool replacement does not depend on mining diamond ore.

  4. Diamond horse armor

Diamond horse armor is part of the set, so mounts can be equipped from the same renewable supply.

How it compares

Full comparison

Create Renewable Recipes needs the server to run it, and clients may add it, as with this mod; it covers 1.20.1 – 1.21.1, is also published for NeoForge, and is released under the MIT License. Diamond Upgrade also needs the server and lets clients optionally add it, with files for 1.17 – 1.20.2, but its license is All rights reserved, so it is not open source. Make Diamonds Rare Again needs the server as well, reaches 1.21.11 – 26.1, and is released under a Creative Commons Attribution Non Commercial 4.0 license.

Questions

Does Renewable Diamonds need to be installed on the client?

No. Only the server needs the mod, and a player can join a server that runs it without installing it, though the client may add it too.

Which loaders does Renewable Diamonds support?

Files are published for Fabric, Forge and Quilt. All current builds target 1.21, and the 1.0.0 file is the latest for each loader.

Are diamond items from this mod the same as vanilla diamonds?

The mod uses the blast furnace to turn diamond pieces into other diamond items. Players gather the source pieces in the world, and the results are added to the server's recipes.

Allows you to create diamonds from other diamond pieces using a blast furnace. This is renewable because you can get diamond tools from villagers.
