Recovery Chest

by Fatin

Recovery Chest stores a player's inventory in a compact, owner-linked case when the player dies, so the items are not scattered as drops.

FabricClient and serverAll rights reserved1.21.1 – 26.2

What it does

On death, the inventory is sealed inside a durable recovery case that is deployed at a safe nearby position, instead of scattering as drops. The moment the case is deployed, its dimension and exact coordinates appear in chat, and a tracker points toward it. The HUD updates the live distance and compass direction while travelling, without forcing the menu to be reopened. The closest active case is tracked automatically, and the tracker can be hidden at any time for a clear screen.

The Recovery Log lists the cases that still matter rather than a permanent history of old deaths. Each active case shows its dimension, coordinates, time of death and the number of stored items. After every item is taken out, a case deletes its own entry from the log and disappears from it. Controlling which case is followed happens through the log, where a case can be chosen with R, and copying a location is also available. Anything that does not fit stays safely inside the case.

The mod is published for Fabric only. The server and every player need the mod installed. The latest Fabric file is 0.1.0+26.1.2 for 26.1.2, dated 2026-08-11, and the game versions with files are 1.21.1, 1.21.4, 26.1.2 and 26.2. It is licensed as All rights reserved, so it is not open source.

What the author says

Death is punishment enough. Your inventory should not become a cloud of items waiting to despawn. Recovery Chest keeps death tense without turning it into a race against scattered drops. When you die, your recoverable inventory is sealed inside a compact, owner-linked recovery case and deployed at a safe position…
