RandomSpawn

by ThebigTijn

Players joining a RandomSpawn server land at a random point inside a rectangle that the server owner defines with four coordinates, and the same can apply on respawn.

FabricServer-side onlyAll rights reserved1.20.1 – 1.21.1

What it does

RandomSpawn places a player at a random coordinate chosen inside a boundary set by four values: MinX, MaxX, MinZ and MaxZ. The mod can apply this on the first join, on respawn, or on both, so a new player and a returning player are both moved into the region. A config file is created automatically on the first launch, and the values there control the size and position of the spawn region.

The mod is a simple tool for server owners who want players to start spread across a world instead of at the default spawn point. Specific behaviors can be disabled in the config, which leaves only the parts the server needs. RandomSpawn runs on Fabric and is published for 1.20.1 and 1.21.1, with 1.0 for 1.21.1 as the latest file. It runs on the server alone, so players need nothing extra to join. The code is not open source, and the mod is released under All rights reserved. Because no client install is involved, a mix of clients can connect to the same world.

Key features

  1. Random spawn on join

New players are placed at a random point inside the configured region when they first connect to the server.

  2. Random spawn on respawn

After death, a player can be sent to a random point in the same boundary rather than back to the world spawn.

  3. Configurable boundaries

MinX, MaxX, MinZ and MaxZ define the rectangle, so the server owner sets the exact area in which spawns can land.

  4. Adjustable behaviors

Each behavior can be switched off in the config, so the mod only handles the cases a server needs.
