Quests Tweaker

by Blue-Beaker

Quests Tweaker connects FTBQuests to scripting on Forge 1.12.2, so that scripts can react to quest progress and completion.

What it does

The mod integrates FTBQuests with a scripting mod. Script authors can add or set progress on an existing quest, which makes it possible to advance a quest when something happens in the world. Scripts can also run in response to quest events through the new task and reward types, so a quest can depend on logic written in a .zs file.

Quests Tweaker needs FTBQuests and its scripting companion present on Forge, and it is published only for 1.12.2. Only the server and players who join it need the mod installed on their side, and the code is released under the MIT License and is open source, with the source code and an issue tracker linked from its public pages.

Key features

  1. Add or set quest progress

A script can add to or set the progress of an existing quest, for example when a player picks up a stack of items.

  2. Function task type

A new task type runs a script function to check progress, so completion can depend on script logic.

  3. Function reward type

A new reward type runs a registered script function when a quest is completed.

  4. Function ID and interval

Tasks and rewards refer to a function by its ID, which scripts register. A task can also run its function at a set interval.

  5. Manual submission control

A task can be set to zero manual submission, so players cannot complete it by hand and only the script decides.

Use cases

Who it’s for: The mod suits modpack authors who already use FTBQuests and a scripting mod and want quest logic written in scripts. Server owners who run a pack with scripted quests install it on the server and on each player's client.
