MTE Patches

by Blue-Beaker

MTE Patches is a Forge optimization mod for 1.12.2 that fixes a set of bugs and rendering issues in other mods.

ForgeClient or server, optionalMIT LicenseOpen source1.12.2

What it does

The mod applies targeted patches to several mods rather than adding content of its own. Its fixes cover Biomes O' Plenty, Industrial Foregoing, the IndustrialCraft 2 Wrench, the ProjectRed Screwdriver and the Immersive Engineering Hammer, along with fluid and item pipes from Forestry, Thermal Dynamics and ProjectRed. Rendering changes reduce work for tile entities with special renderers, and the distance at which they are culled can be set in the config, with culling types configured separately for far shadow rendering. A set of fixes also targets world leaks that appear in large modpacks.

The mod also changes some inventory behavior. Pulling items out with shift no longer leaves the list stale until the mouse is released, and holding an item in a storage slot now stops the hovered item from being swapped out of storage. Compatibility with MouseTweaks is improved as well. MixinBooter is required, and the mod runs on the client, the server, or both, so either side can run it, and neither needs it.

Questions

Does MTE Patches need MixinBooter?

Yes. MixinBooter is a required dependency and must be installed alongside MTE Patches.

Which game version does MTE Patches support?

Forge files exist for 1.12.2 only, with 1.8.2 as the latest file, published 2026-07-21.

Does the server need MTE Patches?

Installing it on one side is enough, and neither the client nor the server requires it, since it works on either side.

Can the culling distance be changed?

Yes. The distance at which tile entities are culled is configurable, and the culled types for shadow rendering are set separately.
