Proxy Compatible Forge lets a Forge or NeoForge server sit behind a Velocity or BungeeCord proxy and accept modern player information forwarding.

What it does

The mod brings Velocity's modern forwarding protocol and BungeeCord's legacy forwarding modes to modded Forge and NeoForge servers, so players connecting through a proxy are identified correctly by the backend. Forwarding modes 1 to 4 are supported. The BungeeGuard mode needs a BungeeGuard plugin on the BungeeCord side, or the Velocity side set to its BungeeGuard forwarding mode.

Modded command arguments are wrapped so they can pass through Velocity without a custom packet deserializer on the proxy. Some mods register arguments under the minecraft namespace or inject them before vanilla arguments, which bypasses the wrapper; in those cases the crossStitch.forceWrappedArguments setting can force wrapping. Wrapping may need to be turned off on a BungeeCord fork that lacks support for wrapped command arguments. The mod is server-side only, so players join without installing anything.

Versions are published for Forge and NeoForge across 83 release versions, 1.7.2 – 26.2. Latest files are 1.3.1 for 26.2, dated 2026-08-31. The mod is released under the GNU Lesser General Public License v2.1 or later and is open source. Optional dependencies include MixinBooter, MixinBootstrap, Modern Mixins and UniMixins, depending on the Forge version in use. tkChat requires this mod.
