Potion API
by Abyua_Studio
Potion API is a Forge and NeoForge library mod that supplies the potion effects used by Legend of the Lucky Blocks and other content mods.
What it does
The library covers a set of potion effects that other mods can apply to players and mobs: slowing surrounding mobs, giving the player weight distribution, gravity resistance, attack speed, and knockback resistance. Effects such as Step Move let a player climb or cross high walls faster, and a point-of-view effect changes what the player sees. Some effects, such as attack recovery, heal the wearer with a set chance when attacking, and buffs stay active after death when the effect is set to resurrect.
Potion API runs on client and server, so both the server and every player need it. Files are published for Forge and NeoForge across 7 release versions, 1.17.1 – 1.21.8, and the latest builds are 1.0.9 for 1.20.1 on Forge and 1.0.9 for 1.21.8 on NeoForge. The code is distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution Non Commercial No Derivatives 4.0 license, so the mod is not open source.
Key features
Slowing effect
Mobs in the area around the affected entity move more slowly while the effect lasts.
Step and movement effects
Step Move lets players cross high walls quickly, and Weight Distribution changes how the body carries its load.
Combat effects
Attack Speed raises how fast the wearer strikes, Knockback Resistance reduces how far hits push them back, and a chance-based effect restores health when attacking.
Gravity and view effects
Gravity resistance removes the pull on surrounding mobs, and a point-of-view effect moves the player's view.
Buffs after death
Resurrection-type effects keep their buffs after the player dies.

How it compares
Maleficium: Vampires, Magic & More! is a Forge and NeoForge mod for 1.20.1 under All rights reserved, with client and server environment, and it is not open source. Bottle of Rainbows is published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt across 1.21.5 – 26.3, is server required with an optional client, and is also not open source. Potion API is limited to Forge and NeoForge and covers 1.17.1 – 1.21.8, so it has a wider version range than Maleficium and fewer loaders than Bottle of Rainbows.
