Pokemob

by TheseusFen

Pokemob lets a player capture a mob in a ball and release it later at a chosen spot, keeping the animal intact.

FabricServer-side onlyBSD 3-Clause LicenseOpen source26.1 – 26.2

What it does

A captured mob is stored inside a ball, and the ball's texture and label update to show what is inside, for example a Pokemob Ball holding a cow. A full ball cannot take a second mob until its contents are released, so each ball holds one mob at a time. Capture is limited for safety: the Ender Dragon cannot be captured, and players cannot be captured either.

Released mobs appear where the player chooses, so animals can be moved across long distances without herding them or using boats. Sneaking and right-clicking a block releases the mob on that spot. Health, custom names and biome-specific variants are kept, so a warm-biome cow comes back as a warm-biome cow after a round trip.

The mod is lightweight and is published for Fabric only, on game versions 26.1, 26.1.1, 26.1.2 and 26.2. Only the server needs it, and players join without installing anything. The code is open source under the BSD 3-Clause License.

Key features

  1. Capture in a ball

Mobs are captured into a ball item, and the ball's texture and name show the captured mob.

  2. Release on demand

A captured mob can be released at a chosen block by sneaking and right-clicking it.

  3. State preserved

Health, custom names and biome-specific variants survive the capture and release cycle.

  4. One mob per ball

A full ball must be emptied before it can take another mob, and the Ender Dragon and players are excluded.
