Playlist
by fudgeu
With Playlist, players take control of Minecraft's background music by building their own in-game song lists instead of relying on the game's default selection.
What it does
Playlist replaces the logic Minecraft uses to choose music, which lets a player decide what plays and when. An in-game media player opens with the G key by default. From it, a player can create playlists, skip or go back through songs, build queues, and edit the song list. Playback time is counted for songs only, so record discs are not included.
Each playlist can be tuned in many ways. Players set how often a song plays or is skipped, and they can attach play conditions based on the environment or the player's situation, so a track starts only in a chosen biome or setting. The mod is built for Fabric and Quilt, and it is a client-side mod, so only the player who installs it needs it. The author has published the code under the MIT License, and the project is not open source. Files exist for 1.19 – 1.20.1, with the latest Fabric build, 1.3.0, targeting 1.20.1.
Because the mod takes over Minecraft's music handling, other mods that add music to the game may stop working alongside it. The author lists this as a known limitation and invites reports on mods that conflict with it through the public issue tracker.
Key features
In-game media player
A menu opened with the G key lets the player browse, play, skip and reorder the music queue.
Custom playlists
Players group songs into playlists and set options that control how each playlist plays.
Play conditions
A song can be limited to certain environments or player situations, so it plays only when those conditions are met.
Playback frequency
Each song can be set to play more or less often, or to stay out of rotation entirely.

Use cases
Who it’s for: Players who want to decide what music plays in their singleplayer or client session, and who accept that other music-adding mods may conflict with it.
