What it does

Mixtape gives control over the background music Minecraft plays. Settings can assign music to a location such as the Nether, the End or underwater, set the delay between songs in a range that starts at 0, and decide whether music stops when the game is paused or the player travels between dimensions or leaves a world. A pitch option varies each track slightly so the same song does not sound identical every time. Minimum and maximum pitch can be changed to control how far the variation goes.

The mod also lets players pick which music types may play in each place, including the menu, creative mode, the game, underwater, the End, the Nether, the credits and the jukebox. A maximum delay controls how long a gap can last before more music plays, separately for credits and jukebox tracks. Music sets can be swapped in and out, and the mod ships with six built-in resource packs. Mixtape is client-side only, so servers do not need it. It requires Fabric API and YetAnotherConfigLib (YACL), and Mod Menu is optional. Files are published for Fabric and Quilt on 1.19 – 1.20.4.

Key features

  1. Location-based music

Tracks can be tied to a place such as the Nether, the End or underwater, so each area gets its own soundtrack.

  2. Playback delay and pausing

A delay between songs can be set from 0 upward, and music can be stopped when the game is paused or the player changes dimension.

  3. Pitch variation

Each song can be played at a slightly different pitch, with minimum and maximum values that set how much variation occurs.

  4. Built-in music packs

Six built-in resource packs cover C418 tracks, unused music and the 0x10c and Nether Update soundtracks, with options for overworld and menu music.

  5. Songs from other packs

Songs added by a resource pack can be included in the playlist, along with tracks such as Moog City and Droopy Likes Ricochet.

Is Mixtape compatible with Now Playing?
