Peterwolf's Railroad One

by peterwolfpl

Peterwolf's Railroad One gives Minecraft rail builders curved track pieces and a Y-shaped switch in place of sharp corners and vanilla T-junctions.

FabricNeoForgeClient and serverApache License 2.01.21.11 – 26.3

What it does

The mod adds 2×2 and 3×3 curved rail pieces, so turns follow a wider, smoother path instead of forcing trains through one-block corners. A dedicated Y-shaped turnout replaces the vanilla T-junction, letting a train leave the main line for a siding without the abrupt look of a standard intersection. Switches are set with redstone, and a powered train can be diverted onto the siding while an unpowered one continues along the main line. The design keeps the rest of the rail system unchanged, so existing layouts and redstone circuits still work.

Peterwolf's Railroad One is aimed at passenger lines, freight routes, mining rail networks and railway stations, where realistic turns and branches matter. It does not add multiblock machinery or automation, so it suits builders who want better-looking track while keeping the lightweight feel of vanilla rails. The mod runs on Fabric and NeoForge, and it is released under the Apache License 2.0, which is not an open source license.

Key features

  1. Curved track pieces

2×2 and 3×3 curved rails let turns follow a wider, more natural arc than vanilla corner tracks.

  2. Y-shaped switch

A turnout with a smooth Y-shaped design replaces the vanilla T-junction and suits branches to sidings.

  3. Redstone-controlled switches

Switches are operated with redstone and fit into existing redstone circuits without extra mechanics.

  4. Train diversion

A powered train takes the siding while an unpowered train continues along the main line.

Questions

Does Peterwolf's Railroad One work on Fabric and NeoForge?

Yes. Files are published for both Fabric and NeoForge, covering the latest game versions.

Do servers and players both need the mod?

Yes. Servers that run it need every player to install it too.

Will the mod break existing redstone circuits?

The switches are controlled with redstone and the rest of the rail system is left unchanged, so existing redstone systems remain compatible.

What the author says

Minecraft railways have barely changed since the early days of the game. Sharp 90-degree turns and T-shaped junctions may work, but they rarely look like a real railway. Peterwolf’s Railroad One improves vanilla rail building by adding smoother track geometry while keeping the simplicity of the original rail system.
