Diamond Rails Fork
by topasmusic
Diamond Rails Fork brings extremely fast powered rails to Fabric, so minecarts can cover long distances in late-game worlds.
What it does
The mod adds multiple tiers of powered rails that accelerate minecarts far faster than vanilla rails, turning minecart systems into a serious option for long trips. Its top speed is compared with a real wheeled train speed record of 574.8 km/h, about 159.66 blocks per second. Diamond powered rails reach 40 blocks per second, and rails enhanced at a Smithing Table reach 80 blocks per second. Netherite upgrades build on the diamond rails for the highest tier.
This fork updates the original DiamondRails, which had not been maintained past older Minecraft versions, so it targets game versions 1.21.11 – 26.3. Credit for the original idea, code, assets, icons and models goes to arthomnix, and the code is open source under the MIT License. Fabric API is required, and the mod runs on client and server, so the server and every player need it.
Because of the extreme speeds, the rails have limits on track layout. Modded rails cannot handle sharp corners or steep slopes uphill and downhill, so builders need to plan smooth curves and full coverage with careful placement.
Key features
Diamond powered rails
Rails crafted from diamonds in place of gold reach 40 blocks per second, well above vanilla powered rails.
Smithing upgrade tier
Diamond rails enhanced at a Smithing Table reach 80 blocks per second, and a netherite tier goes further.
Lapis and chorus materials
The recipe for the top tier uses lapis blocks and chorus fruit as required materials.
Careful track building
Corners and slopes are limited for these rails, so track layouts need smooth curves and full coverage.

Use cases
Long-distance minecart travel
Players who want to cross large maps can connect a network of fast rails instead of relying on flight.
Who it’s for: Players who build large railway systems on Fabric in late-game worlds, where the extreme speeds of these rails fit long routes between distant bases.
How it compares
Minecarts Overhaul is an open source MIT-licensed Fabric mod for 1.21.11 – 26.1.2 that also runs on client and server. Faster Minecarts 69 is a Fabric client and server mod for 26.2 under the Apache License 2.0, and it is not open source. Diamond Rails Fork targets 1.21.11 – 26.3, adding its own tiers of fast powered rails.
