Perpetual Durability

by LexxieBlack

Perpetual Durability lets a server owner make chosen items unbreakable, using a config file that sets which items and mods receive the effect.

ForgeClient and serverAll rights reserved1.16.5 – 1.19.4

What it does

The mod adds a way to make items unbreakable. Which items receive the effect is set in a config file named perpetual durability-common.toml, placed in the config folder, which holds three fields: the item ID to apply the effect to, a list of blacklisted mods, and a list of blacklisted items. Mods and items listed in the blacklists are excluded, and by default no mod items gain the effect.

Installation requires mod dependencies. Installation covers the server and each player's game. Compatibility with JEI shows how to apply the Unbreakable tag to an item. Files are published for Forge only, for seven game versions 1.16.5 – 1.19.4, and the latest is 1.19.4-0.3.2 for 1.19.4, dated 2023-03-25 on the beta channel. The code is not open source, and the mod is released under All rights reserved. Public links exist for the source code, issue tracker and wiki.

Key features

  1. Unbreakable items

Items can be made unbreakable so their durability no longer runs down through use.

  2. Config-driven item list

A common config file lets the server choose which item IDs receive the effect.

  3. Mod and item blacklists

Whole mods or single items can be excluded from the effect through two blacklist lists in the config.

  4. JEI tag guidance

JEI integration shows how the Unbreakable tag is applied to an item.
