What it does

OutpostZero is a Forge and NeoForge world generation mod that places underground bunkers in a world. The player spawns in one close to world spawn, and additional bunker structures generate throughout the terrain, forming a network of hidden facilities to find. The start location and the spawn rate of bunkers can both be set in the config, so a modpack maker can change how dense they are.

Bunkers are placed by generation algorithms meant to look like believable underground installations instead of scattered random blocks. Each bunker is built from modular room layouts, so no two explore the same way. Infrastructure blocks such as airlock doors, motion sensors and industrial lighting fit into underground builds, and storage blocks including crates and industrial drums hold items and fluids. Some bunkers hold discoverable data logs with small pieces of storytelling about an experimental subject known as Patient Four, which is optional flavour.

The mod also adds survival equipment, including rechargeable batteries, handheld flashlights and a genetic crop system. It has built-in support for zombie infection, and it integrates directly with the Hordes mod, with a lightweight fallback infection system for installs without Hordes. It runs on client and server and is published for Forge and NeoForge across the 1.20.1 – 26.1.2 range. Version 1.0.10 corrects a defect in which bunker generation could strip out a ladder inside a shaft. The license is All rights reserved, so the code is not open source.
