OldVisuals

by 6___

OldVisuals brings back several first-person and third-person visual behaviors from earlier Minecraft releases on the Fabric client.

FabricClient-side onlyGNU General Public License v3.0 onlyOpen source1.21.4

What it does

Each restored visual can be switched on or off separately, either in the config file or through the Mod Menu settings screen. The changes cover item and tool positions, the crosshair in third person, and dropped items drawn as flat 2D sprites, which can slightly raise frame rates in some scenes. Only client-side animation cooldown is turned off, so server-side combat timing is unchanged. Fabric API is required, and Mod Menu is optional for the settings screen. Files target 1.21.4 only, and the mod is released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only, so the source code is open.

Key features

  1. Old item positions

Swords, tools, fishing rods and other held items are placed where they were in earlier releases, in both views.

  2. Cooldown animation off

The attack cooldown animation is disabled on the client, while the underlying cooldown mechanic keeps working.

  3. 2D dropped items

Dropped items are rendered as flat sprites, which can slightly improve frame rates in some scenes.
