No Sound PvP

by Varlockk

No Sound PvP lets a player mute the sound effects that clutter player-versus-player fights, such as explosions, totems, potions and pearls.

FabricClient-side onlyApache License 2.01.21.7

What it does

Sound PvP gives each player control over which PvP-related sounds are silenced. Explosions, eating, totems, potions, ender pearls, water, lava, footsteps and wind charges can each be muted or turned down, so the sounds that distract during a fight stay out of the way. Individual volume sliders from 0 to 100 let a player keep some sounds at a chosen level instead of cutting them all.

The mod runs only on the client, so a server does not need to install it and players can join any server with it installed. It depends on Fabric API, Cloth Config API and Mod Menu, which provides the settings screen. Mod Menu is optional in the sense that the settings menu appears only when it is present, and Cloth Config handles the options interface.

Files are published for Fabric only, for Minecraft 1.21.7, and the latest build is 1.0.0, released 2025-11-04. The mod is released under the Apache License 2.0 and is not open source.

Key features

  1. Mute common PvP sounds

Explosions, totem pops, potion effects and other frequent combat sounds can be muted one by one.

  2. Individual volume sliders

Each PvP-related sound has its own slider from 0 to 100, so volume can be lowered rather than removed.

  3. Full silence option

A player who wants no PvP sound at all can mute every category at once and keep only the sounds they choose.

  4. Settings screen through Mod Menu

Options open in a menu built with Cloth Config and reached through Mod Menu, with no server-side setup.

Use cases

Who it’s for: The mod suits players who fight other players and want fewer distracting sounds during combat. It is installed on each player's own game, so server owners do not need to add it.

How it compares

Full comparison

Configurable Mute On Focus Lost is also a Fabric, client-side mod and is open source under the MIT License, but it covers versions 1.21.4 – 1.21.11 and mutes sound when the window loses focus instead of by sound type. Totem Sounds targets only the 1.21.11 build and is released under All rights reserved, so its files are not open source. Both run on the client alone, the same as No Sound PvP.
