NoMo' Portals

by Eruannie_9

Players who want vanilla and modded portals to stop sending them between dimensions can use NoMo' Portals, a Forge mod that disables that teleportation.

ForgeClient and serverMIT License1.16.5 – 1.20.1

What it does

NoMo' Portals disables portals in vanilla Minecraft and in modded dimensions, so a portal no longer moves a player to another world. Through its configuration file, a server owner can choose which portals stay active. Players who try to use a disabled portal see a warning message instead of a teleport.

The mod also changes two items. Right-clicking an Ender Eye no longer starts a search for a stronghold, and an Ender Pearl no longer teleports its thrower. A server running it needs every connecting player to have it too. Files are published for Forge only, for 1.16.5 – 1.20.1, with 5.4 for 1.20.1 as the latest build. The code is released under the MIT License, and the mod is not open source.

Key features

  1. Portal disabling

Vanilla portals and portals from modded dimensions stop moving players between worlds.

  2. Configurable portal list

A configuration file lets the server owner keep selected portals working while the rest stay disabled.

  3. Warning message

A chat message tells the player that a portal has been disabled when they try to use it.

  4. Ender Eye and Ender Pearl changes

Right-clicking an Ender Eye no longer searches for a stronghold, and an Ender Pearl no longer teleports the player who throws it.

Use cases

Keeping players in one dimension

A server that wants progression to stay in the overworld can block portals to the Nether, the End and modded dimensions.

Disabling modded dimension travel

Packs that add many dimensions can turn off the portals to those worlds without removing the dimensions themselves.

Who it’s for: Server owners and modpack authors who want to restrict dimension travel. Single-player players who prefer vanilla portal travel have no need for it.
