Name Color Editor
by Temmiie
Players pick a custom colored name with Name Color Editor, a lightweight Fabric client and server mod that colors the username shown in chat.
What it does
Name Color Editor opens a color editor from which a player chooses a custom color for their username. The editor offers an HSB picker with a hue-saturation square and a brightness slider, a set of 16 classic swatches matching the standard vanilla Minecraft colors, and a hex field where an RRGGBB code can be typed or pasted. A chat coloring toggle decides whether the chosen color applies to the name, to chat messages, or to both. The layout is built to resize across screen sizes and GUI scales.
The mod is meant to give a server a more distinct identity, since players can express themselves through the color of their name. Because the chosen color is shown wherever the username appears in chat, other players see it as well. The mod is client and server, so the server and every player need it. It is published for Fabric only, across 15 release versions, 1.21 – 26.1.2, and is open source under the MIT License.
