Multiplayer Bosses

by perl

Multiplayer Bosses scales boss health and loot drops to the number of players on a server, so fights stay fair as more people join.

ForgeNeoForgeClient and serverGNU General Public License v3.0 onlyOpen source1.20.1 – 1.21.1

What it does

Boss health can grow with each player in the area, using a per-player multiplier, or a flat multiplier applied on top. Drops can be scaled the same way, and by default each boss hands out one Loot Bag per player. Scaling for player count can be overridden in the config, and a loot multiplier can be set separately from health.

The mod is server-side in function, but the environment is client and server, so the server and every player need it installed. Files are published for Forge and NeoForge only, for 1.20.1 and 1.21.1, with 1.1.3 for 1.20.1 and 1.0.0 for 1.21.1 as the latest builds. The code is open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only, and the source code and issue tracker are public. The author notes a Fabric and Forge version in progress, and that vanilla health values cannot exceed 1024, so a bypass relies on the AttributeFix mod.

Key features

  1. Health scaling per player

Boss health can increase with the number of players, using a per-player multiplier or a flat multiplier.

  2. Drop scaling

Loot drops can be multiplied, and Loot Bags can be given per player by default.

  3. Configurable boss list

A list in the config selects which boss entities the scaling applies to.

  4. Loader tags

An option lets the mod use loader tags when matching bosses.
