Move Tutors [Cobblemon]

by TheNovoro

Move Tutors [Cobblemon] adds Move Tutoring to Cobblemon servers, letting Pokémon learn moves from tutors defined in data files.

FabricServer-side onlyGNU General Public License v3.0 or laterOpen source1.21.1

What it does

The mod introduces Move Tutoring to Cobblemon. Tutor moves are defined in files rather than in code, so a server owner sets which moves a tutor teaches and which Pokémon may learn them. Move Sorter and an alphabetical category type help organize long move lists, and Pokémon move blacklists keep selected moves out of reach for chosen species.

Support for entities and Fakemon is included, and language strings can be customized. Impactor and Pebbles economy support lets a server charge for tutoring. Permission nodes control who may use tutors, and the mod is registered through LuckPerms, so a server needs the node to exist before access can be granted. Only an opped player online at the time is checked for permissions, and a restart may be needed after an opped player grants the node to that same player.

Move Tutors is a Fabric mod for Minecraft 1.21.1 only, published since 2026-03-21 and last updated 2026-09-06. It runs on the server alone, so players join without installing it. The code is open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later.

Key features

  1. File-driven tutors

Each tutor and the moves it teaches are set in data files, so the list can be changed without editing the code.

  2. Move sorting and blacklists

Moves can be sorted by category or alphabetically, and blacklists stop selected species from learning chosen moves.

  3. Economy integration

Impactor and Pebbles support lets tutoring be priced as a server economy action.

Questions

Does Move Tutors need to be installed on the client?

No. Server owners install it, and players connect with no copy of their own.

Why does a permission node need to exist first?

LuckPerms checks permissions only for opped players online, and the node must be registered before access can be granted. A restart may be needed after an opped player grants the node to that same player.

Which Cobblemon versions does Move Tutors support?

The mod is built for Minecraft 1.21.1 only, with the latest Fabric file 2.4.0+1.21.1 published 2026-09-06.

What the author says

Be aware: If a permission node does not register for you, deop yourself and relog/restart the server. In order for LuckPerms to cache the permission node, it needs to acknowledge that it exists, and this doesn't end up being the case if only an Opped Player is online when LuckPerms checks for permissions!
