More Cobblemon Sound Events

by hudsom62

More Cobblemon Sound Events registers extra sound events for Cobblemon, so resource pack and modpack creators can map their own audio to them.

FabricClient and serverApache License 2.0Open source1.21.1

What it does

The mod registers additional Cobblemon sound events that are not present in the base game. Each event can be pointed at custom audio through a resource pack, which lets a creator replace or extend the sounds that play for Cobblemon actions. The mod bundles default sound files, and a full list of the available events can be read from the bundled sounds.json file.

To override an event, a resource pack defines the sound in its own sounds.json and places the sound files in the correct location inside the resource pack. Existing Minecraft and other mods' sounds can also be referenced directly by namespace and path. The structure of the sounds.json file and the options it accepts are described in the project documentation.

Cobblemon is required as a dependency. The mod runs on Fabric for 1.21.1, on the client and the server, and is released under the Apache License 2.0, so the source is open. Modpack authors who redistribute it are asked to link back to the Modrinth project through the manifest.

Key features

  1. Extra Cobblemon sound events

Adds a collection of additional sound events for Cobblemon that resource packs can target.

  2. Default bundled sounds

Ships with default sound files, so the events produce audio even before a pack changes them.

  3. Custom sound mapping

Lets a resource pack map its own sound files to the registered events and override them.

  4. Browse existing sounds

Existing Minecraft sounds can be referenced by namespace and path from a resource pack's sounds.json.

Questions

Does More Cobblemon Sound Events need Cobblemon?

Yes. Cobblemon is a required dependency, and the mod's sound events are registered alongside it.

Does the server need the mod installed?

Yes. A server running it needs every connecting player to have it too.

Where do custom sound files go?

They go in the correct location inside the resource pack, and the pack's sounds.json maps them to the event names listed in the bundled file.
